Flex Ready®: a collective approach to accelerate energy flexibility

Flex Ready® is an initiative led by Think Smartgrids and all stakeholders in the sector to facilitate the deployment of electrical flexibility in commercial buildings.

Faced with the new challenges of balancing the electrical grid and the increasing integration of renewable energies, commercial buildings have a key role to play. They offer numerous levers for flexibility: managing energy use, optimizing consumption, managing equipment, storing energy, and even charging electric vehicles.

The objective of Flex Ready® is to create a simple and operational framework to guarantee the interoperability of building energy management systems with stakeholders in the electrical system (grid operators, aggregators, demand response operators, etc.).

The approach is based on:

  • A shared technical framework, co-developed with all stakeholders in the sector.
  • A self-declaration process for technical solutions, enabling each stakeholder to demonstrate their interfacing capabilities.
The granting of a right to use the Flex Ready® trademark, promoting compatible solutions and facilitating their market deployment.

Flex Ready® is above all a collective dynamic, bringing together manufacturers, local authorities, energy unions, operators, design offices and electrical system operators, in the service of simpler, more readable flexibility, and for the benefit of all territories.

Replay of the Flex Ready® Webinar, The Pilot Version:

Webinar Objective

This webinar aims to present the pilot version of the Flex Ready brand, its operation, technical requirements, and the application process.

It will also detail what this framework can offer network stakeholders and solution providers: improved clarity of offerings, a common evaluation framework, and a lever for market structuring.

For building managers, this will be an opportunity to understand the concrete benefits of the approach, as well as the support available to join the initiative.

Finally, this pilot phase is essential for gathering as many projects and feedback as possible and for refining the future V1 version of the framework.
